Fobest FOD-4 Product Overview & Custom Options

Fobest Custom Outdoor Range Hood Size Guide

Use this guide to choose the width, height, and depth of your custom outdoor range hood. Start by measuring your grill and the space where the hood will be installed.

1. Choose Your Hood Width

Choose a hood that is the same width as your grill or 6″ wider overall for 3″ of extra coverage on each side. Center the hood over the cooking area. If a side burner will sit beneath the same hood, include it in the total width you want to cover.

These are sizing examples. Check your chosen hood’s size options or contact us for a custom width.

2. Allow 36″–39″ Above the Grill

Plan for 36″–39″ of vertical clearance, measured from the grill’s cooking grate to the bottom edge of the hood. Before ordering, have your installer confirm the mounting height against the installation instructions for your grill and ventilation equipment.

3. Calculate Your Hood Height

If your hood will extend to a flat ceiling, measure both the ceiling height and the cooking grate height from the finished floor. Use the confirmed mounting clearance in the calculation below.

Hood height = ceiling height − cooking grate height − clearance above the grill

For example, with a 108″ ceiling, a 36″-high cooking grate, and 36″ of clearance, your hood would be 36″ tall. If the hood will end below the ceiling or meet a soffit, measure from the planned bottom edge of the hood to where the top will end.

4. Choose Your Hood Depth

For a wall-mounted hood, measure from the finished wall to the front edge of the cooking surface, including any gap behind the grill. Have your installer check that the selected depth covers the cooking area and leaves room for the grill lid to open fully.

Need Help With a Custom Size?

Email info@fobestappliance.com with your grill model, cooking area width, cooking grate height, and a photo or drawing of your outdoor kitchen. Include the ceiling height if the hood will reach the ceiling, and the wall-to-grill measurement for a wall-mounted hood. If you’re supplying your own insert, send its model number and installation drawing so we can check the fit.

TIPS FOR MAKING YOUR SELECTIONS

1.Match Your Hardware: Look at your cabinet pulls and faucets. Mixing metals (e.g., Stainless Steel with Brass rivets) is a top trend for 2026.
2.Consider the Lighting: Polished finishes reflect under-cabinet LEDs beautifully, while brushed finishes soften the glare in bright, sunlit kitchens.
3.Maintenance Level: If you have a busy family kitchen, Brushed or Hammered finishes are the most "forgiving" against daily use.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Will the finish change when I select a different material on the website? A: To maintain authenticity, our preview photos remain as real finished products. However, your order will be custom-built exactly to the finish and material you select in the menu.

Q: Can I customize the color of the rivets? A: Yes! Every part of our stainless steel range hoods—from the crown to the pot rail—can be customized to your specific color preference.

Q: Will my hood turn green or dark over time? A: No. Thanks to our protective clear coat, all hood body and accents are sealed. They will not develop a patina or oxidize.

Q: Do I need to apply any wax or polish to the finish? A: No. Our finishes are maintenance-free. Traditional metal polishes can actually damage the protective clear coat, so we recommend only using mild soap and water.

HOW TO ORDER YOUR CUSTOM RANGE HOOD ONLINE: A Step-by-Step Guide

Fobest Custom Outdoor Range Hood Ventilation Guide

Choose the ventilation package that matches your hood width. Our 36-inch outdoor hood pairs with a 1,050 CFM single-motor liner. Our 42-, 48-, 60-, and 72-inch hoods pair with a 2,010 CFM dual-motor liner. Both options have built-in motors and exhaust outdoors through ductwork.

Outdoor Range Hood Liner Specifications

Plan Your Duct Route

Before ordering, have your installer confirm whether the ductwork will exit through the top or back of the liner and where it will vent outdoors. For the dual-motor liner, each outlet requires its own 8-inch round duct and exterior cap.

Using Your Own Insert?

Select Hood Only if you’re supplying your own outdoor range hood insert. Email the insert model number and installation drawing to info@fobestappliance.com so we can check the fit before you order.

MAINTENANCE
Designed for both performance and convenience, your stainless steel range hood features smooth surfaces and removable filters that make routine cleaning quick and easy.

Regular Cleaning:
Simply wipe down the hood with a soft cloth dampened with warm water.
For stubborn spots, use a mild detergent or a vinegar-water solution.
Always dry the surface immediately to prevent watermarks and keep it looking polished.

Avoid Abrasive Cleaners:
Do not use steel wool, abrasive sponges, or cleaners containing chlorine or bleach.
These substances can scratch or dull the stainless steel finish.

Follow the Grain:
When cleaning or polishing, always wipe in the direction of the grain to maintain the smooth, sleek appearance and avoid micro-scratches.

With minimal upkeep, your stainless steel kitchen hood will continue to perform efficiently while maintaining its modern aesthetic.
