Custom Zinc Range Hoods Made for Your Kitchen

Every Fobest custom zinc range hood is handcrafted to order. Choose a starting design and customize the dimensions, mounting configuration, zinc finish, crown, apron, straps, rivets and ventilation system to fit your kitchen.

Construction: Fobest zinc range hoods are handcrafted from heavy-duty 16-gauge zinc according to the selected product specifications. Available features include removable baffle filters, multi-speed controls and integrated LED lighting.

Available Widths: Standard widths include 30", 36", 42", 48", 54" and 60". Custom widths, heights and depths are also available.

Choose Your Zinc Finish

Natural Zinc: A balanced cool-grey metal finish with subtle tonal variation. Natural zinc works well with white cabinetry, natural wood, marble, concrete and other neutral kitchen materials.

Dark Zinc: A deeper charcoal-grey finish that creates stronger contrast. Dark zinc is well suited to modern, industrial, transitional and high-contrast kitchen designs.

Non-Directional Zinc: Also listed in the sample collection as No-Direction Zinc, this finish has less emphasis on a single linear grain and creates a more evenly varied metal appearance.

Zinc finishes may look different under warm, cool and natural lighting. We recommend ordering zinc finish samples before confirming the final finish.

Custom Shapes and Mixed-Metal Accents

Explore popular shapes including Curved, Bell, Box, Barrel and Arched. Zinc hoods can be adapted for Modern, Industrial, Classic and Farmhouse kitchen styles.

Custom Metal Accents: Zinc pairs especially well with brushed brass, aged brass, polished brass, brushed stainless steel and black accents. Straps, bands, rivets, trim and pot rails can be coordinated with cabinet hardware, faucets and light fixtures.

Customizable Components: The body, chimney, crown and apron can be adjusted to suit the kitchen. Decorative options include crown molding, custom apron designs, metal straps, bands, rivets, seams and pot rails. Final details are confirmed on the custom drawing before production.

Wall-Mount and Island-Mount Options

Every Fobest decorative zinc hood design can be configured as either a wall-mount range hood or an island range hood. Wall-mount hoods are normally finished on three visible sides, while island hoods are finished on all four sides. Construction and recommended depth are adjusted for the selected mounting configuration.

Wall-Mount Sizing: The hood should be at least as wide as the cooktop. A hood 3"–6" wider may provide additional capture area. Standard wall-mount depth is generally 21"–24".

Island-Mount Sizing: Because an island hood is more exposed to cross-drafts, a hood 3"–6" wider than the cooktop is generally recommended. Standard island depth is approximately 27".

Mounting Clearance: The bottom of the hood is generally installed 30"–36" above the cooking surface. Final hood height is calculated using the ceiling height, cooking-surface height and selected mounting clearance. Review the range hood size guide before ordering.

Under-Cabinet Installation: Under-cabinet configurations require a compatibility review based on the cabinet opening, available height, hood depth and insert dimensions.

Blower and Ventilation Options

Internal Blower: The blower motor is installed inside the hood, and cooking air is discharged outdoors through ductwork. Typical internal blower options include 600 CFM for 30" and 36" hoods, 1150 CFM for 42" and 48" hoods, and 1260 CFM for 54" and 60" hoods, depending on the selected liner. View internal blower options.

Remote Blower: The blower motor is installed outside the decorative hood, typically in the attic or within the ventilation system, while the liner and controls remain inside the hood. Moving the motor away from the hood may reduce perceived motor noise in the kitchen. Fobest remote blower systems are generally rated at 1260 CFM. View remote blower options.

Ductless Conversion: Air passes through filters and is recirculated into the kitchen instead of venting outdoors. Current compatible ductless liner options generally provide approximately 390–395 CFM. Available sizes and liner compatibility must be confirmed before ordering. View ductless range hood options.

Hood Only: The decorative zinc hood can be built around a customer-supplied insert or liner. The insert specifications and required opening dimensions must be reviewed and approved before production.

Zinc Finish Protection and Care

Fobest zinc hoods receive a professional clear protective coating designed to help preserve the selected finish and slow oxidation. Because zinc is a metal material and every hood is handcrafted, minor variation in color, grain and surface details is normal.

Clean the exterior with a soft cloth, warm water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive pads, acidic cleaners, harsh chemicals and traditional metal polish, as these products may damage the protective coating. Heat, humidity, cleaning products and daily use may affect the appearance of the finish over time.

Removable stainless steel baffle filters should be cleaned regularly according to cooking frequency. The filters are separate from the decorative zinc exterior and may generally be cleaned in a dishwasher when permitted by the liner instructions.

Why Choose a Fobest Zinc Range Hood?

Made to Order: Each hood is built around the selected dimensions, installation method, zinc finish, ventilation system and decorative details.

Drawing Approval: Custom drawings or renderings are provided after the order is placed. Production begins only after the customer approves the final drawing.

Flexible Design: Zinc provides a neutral grey base that can be paired with brass, stainless steel or black accents for modern, industrial, transitional or traditional kitchens.

Ventilation Choices: Select an internal blower, remote blower, compatible ductless conversion or hood-only construction for a customer-supplied insert.

Warranty: Fobest product information currently lists a lifetime warranty for the hood cover, a 10-year limited warranty for the motor and blower, and a 2-year limited warranty for the hood liner or insert, subject to the applicable warranty terms and exclusions.

Shipping and Lead Time: Free standard shipping is available to most locations within the contiguous United States. Standard orders are generally delivered approximately 8–10 weeks after final drawing approval. Expedited service is generally 5–7 weeks and requires an additional charge. Delivery estimates may vary by product specifications and destination. Review the Shipping & Delivery Policy.

How to Order a Custom Zinc Range Hood

1. Choose a Starting Design: Select the zinc hood shape closest to your preferred kitchen style.

2. Select the Zinc Finish: Choose Natural Zinc, Dark Zinc or Non-Directional Zinc and confirm the appearance with a physical sample when possible.

3. Choose the Accent Metal: Select matching or contrasting straps, bands, rivets, trim or a pot rail.

4. Provide Your Kitchen Information: Confirm the cooktop width, ceiling height, mounting location, preferred hood dimensions and ventilation option.

5. Review the Custom Drawing: Fobest will prepare a drawing or rendering showing the agreed dimensions, construction and decorative details.

6. Approve Production: Review all dimensions and details carefully. Because the hood is made to order, changes generally cannot be made after the final drawing is approved and production begins.

7. Arrange Professional Installation: Installation and ductwork should be completed by a qualified professional in accordance with the appliance manufacturer’s requirements and applicable local building codes. Review the installation guide.

Planning Notice: The sizing, mounting-clearance and airflow information on this page is general planning guidance only. The final hood size, mounting height, duct layout, blower selection and installation method must be determined from the customer’s actual kitchen, cooking equipment, duct conditions and local code requirements. Customers should confirm all specifications with their contractor, appliance manufacturer or qualified installer before approving the production drawing. Physical finish samples are recommended because screen settings and lighting can affect how zinc colors appear online.

To determine the right size, measure the width of your cooking surface. Your kitchen range hood should be at least as wide as your cooktop, but for optimal performance, it should extend 3 inches on either side.

The power of a range hood is measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). For most residential kitchens, a custom range hood with 600-900 CFM is sufficient. However, this depends on the size of your kitchen and the type of cooking you do. High-heat cooking or a larger kitchen may require a more powerful hood.

Regular maintenance includes cleaning the filters, wiping down the exterior, and occasionally cleaning the interior components. Filters should be cleaned or replaced every 1-3 months, depending on usage. Stainless steel hoods should be cleaned with a mild detergent and a soft cloth to avoid scratching.

There are two main types of ventilation systems: ducted and ductless. Ducted systems expel air outside your home, while ductless systems filter and recirculate the air. The choice depends on your kitchen layout and whether you can install ductwork.
